Workstation Optimizer Review

If you want a quick an easy all in one solution to all of the common pc problems then the workstation optimizer is the choice to be made. I decided to get it and it has made everything computer related easy as a click of the mouse. It packs a punch in a neat and tidy program that is user friendly for the beginner or the advanced computer user.

it has many nice features like:

PC Optimizer - a feature that will change some of the windows configurations, like turning off unneeded services or lowering the visual appearance in exchange for performance.

Evidence Cleaner - will delete any or all of your personal data which is good if you if you use creditcards or addresses on your computer, preventing anyone to see or use that information against you (ex. creditcard theft, spying, and pop-ups)

File Shredder - is particularly useful if you have a business, since it will write and rewrite over a file then delete it to ensure that no one will be able to recover and use that information to there benefit.

Manage Start up - is a particularly useful feature since it will allow you to choose which programs will start up when you turn your computer on, or it can stop that annoying program you never use to start-up on the login.

Uninstall Programs - not too much special about this, just keeps everything neat and in one place.

Internet Optimizer - is fantastic it will increase your internet speed so you can fully use the service that you are paying for from your internet service provider.

Spyware Cleaner - will clean all the spies out of the computer. When I say “spies“, I mean the things that you could have picked up from everyday browsing on the web. What they do is track what you do so that a pop-up or a redirection of a webpage will happen with advertisement based on what you have been browsing online for.

Registry Cleaner
- is something that I would proceed with caution before I do anything with. It is the heart of your operating system (ex. windows) and is crucial that nothing goes wrong or else you can get errors during computer use. I HIGHLY recommend backing up your registry before you use this! But it can be quite beneficial, if nothing goes wrong then your computer will be able to load programs much faster.

Registry Backup
- will obviously backup your registry and save you from any headaches that the registry cleaner might make.

Registry Defragmenter - will improve your efficiency of the registry. If you have installed and uninstalled a program, more than likely your registry is going to be fragmented. What I mean by fragmented is for example gaps in the data, or data shuffled up on your hard drive leaving it a mess. What the registry defragmenter will do is take all of those bits of information and organizes it so everything can run smooth and efficient.

so all together i would give it a 4/5 for its ease of use and diversity of features but a lack of a backup feature ont the pc optimizer lowered the score. This can be worked around by using the windows build in system restore feature.

How to Make Your Computer Clean and Efficient

Have you ever noticed that your computer is starting to slow down compared to when you first got it and the things you used to do in a flash as now becoming a nuisance? Well a computer is like a child, it likes to make messes but it will never clean up after itself. What you as the computer user has to do is tell your computer to clean up its mess. The good thing about a computer is that it will never argue with you when you ask.

There are only two easy steps to cleaning your computer, and they are:

1) Throwing out the garbage: When I say garbage I mean your temporary files, these are the files that are made when you do everyday surfing on the web or when something is installed. They are made so that everything will run more smoothly and faster since it already has the files on the hard drive, ironically if you have too many than it can drastically reduce the speed and efficiency of your computer.

How to clean:

To clean the garbage click on the start button on the lower left corner of your computer then go to all programs > accessories > system tools > disk cleanup

It should load then a screen will come up with a check list. Check all except Hibernation File Cleaner if you use the hibernation function of your computer. Click ok and all the junk on your computer will be deleted.

Now that all the garbage is cleaned out, it's on to the next step, organizing your files.

2) Organizing the hard drive: When I say organizing I don't mean putting all your video files into a folder titled videos. What I mean is organizing the little bits of information that you have accumulated over time by installs, downloads and surfing the web. What happens is your hard drive will record the information in which ever order it gets the information. For example, say you are installing a program and surfing the net at the same time, the information from both of them will be mixed together like a smoothy. That will make it harder for your hard drive to find the information that you are asking for when you play a song or open up a webpage. So to clean the mess you will have to do what is called a defragmentation on your hard drive. To do this, just follow the steps.

How to Defrag:

!! Warning: this may take a few hours!!

!! I suggest leaving it overnight!!

To defrag click the start button on the lower left corner of your computer then go to all programs > accessories > system tools > disk defragmenter

Please close all running programs before you start a defragmentation.

Then click on defragment now and select all drives. After it is complete you will have a cleaner faster more efficient computer.
